This river is also known as 'Pataalganga'. The deities who reside in the temple of Sri Sailam are Sri Mallikarjuna Swami and his wife Bharamaramba.
Srisailam is situated on Rishabhagiri hill in deep forests of Nallamalai hills in the Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh, this Temple is one of the most ancient and sacred places in South India.
Rishabhagiri hill is also known by the names of Sri Giri, Sriparvata, Rudra Parvata and Seshachalam.

The presiding deities of the temple are Sri Mallikarjuna Swami( Shiva ) and his consort Bharamaramba( Parvati).
The lingam here is said to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingams in the country.
One of the most important festivals held at this temple is Maha shivaratri festival. The most important event during this festival is the celestial marriage ceremony of Lord Mallikharjuna swamy (Shiva) with Bhramramba Devi( Parvathi Devi).
